Melissa was born in the scenic Tucson, Arizona to the her parents, Marvin and Karlene Gabrys. So technically, Melissa is more of a native than John will ever be! By the time she was in the 4th grade, she had lived in several homes in both Arizona and California and was beginning her life in the sleepy little town of Detroit. Actually, she's a suburban girl who is more familiar with the outskirts of such an infamous town. By the time she met her best friend Meece, she was already in high school. Melissa followed Meece to Evangel College to see if this was the school for her. Five years and a BS in Elementary Education later, she was living in the growing metropolis of Springfield, Missouri. Except for her sister, the rest of Melissa's bridesmaids would be a select few she found in college. She met one of her would-be bridesmaids, SJ, while working at DiGiacinto's (an Italian Restaurant). Melody was a freshman in the Evangel Orchestra and Sarah Baker was Melissa's first off-campus roommate. At Sarah's request in 2003, Melissa reluctantly left her jobs as a server (she worked in a Chinese restaurant, too) and made the long...long trek across Kansas to realize her fate as a elementary art teacher. Through the awesome tutelage of Liz Ford she helped many a young child work with their artistic abilities. One night, during her birthday week, she and some friends wandered into a free hip-hop show and the rest, as they say, is history....
